Use the Upload File link from the toolbox on the left of the page (under the serach box) once you have done that the file you uploaded will presented to you as page with a title Image:Filename.jpeg, simply change the reference to the flag image in the page from [[Image:Transylvanian_flag.JPG|The Romanian flag]] to [[Image:NewFlag.jpg]].

Why?

Just because some things are funny doesn`t mean they`re true. Most of all I would like to congradulate you on your passion of making small people feel smaller. We could say the same things about your countries even if we all know they`re not true. If you think this is the best you can do, then why not start making fun of old people and hadicapped people? That's a' pretty funny satyrical text and I think everyone who has the IQ at least as high as his shoe size can spot that in a few seconds. However, this text should pe placed in the fictional/satyre section and replaced with a decent description of our country. I will try to write an article ASAP and I'm open to any suggestions or corrections on that metter. So please all you non Romanian visitors smile with us. Also, Romanian readers shouldn't take it as personal as Wikipedia is not a classical Encyclopedia where all things are considered tried and true. Consider is as a discussion group, where people share views on certain subjects.

i'm a romanian too, i had lots of fun reading all the stuffs, but i don't think it's such a good ideea to put those on the internet, i had lots of fun because i know my cowntry, but other people don't, what they will think about romania?

They will think about the romanian exactly what they will think about every other country listed here. No one in the right mind will consider this to be true. There isn't any country left un-vandalised. For romanians, I don't think that reading Catavencu means that everything in there is absolute truth. For foreigners, if they take a look at their countries and see how messed up they are, I don't think they'll consider Romania to be as it is written here.

I just post this to thank all the users who kept the paggy ion a reading order. It is amazingly funny (and some parts would only make sense to a Romanian - like the pula part). Not all Romanians lack a sense of humor. :)

Different approach proposal

Thank you all for this corner of satire and good humor online. I had a good laugh reading various topics in Uncyclopedia. Thank you for the efforts made to maintain some level of sanity here, with all the edit warriors defacing this page. What I'd like to point out is that the page about Romania is growing into an absurd fictional story with few elements linked to reality. It is somewhat funny, but also has a tendency to piss off some people with negative IQ; no offense. What I'd like to see on this page is humor of higher quality, information resembling reality and making fun of what really defines Romania, not just proof of how wild someone's imagination can be. I see now that government part is gone. It is also gone a part I've added a week ago (with Urs Meier). What are these guys trying to prove? That their little brain is larger than their skull?

No, there was a section with government, it was not under "Laws" (that section was added after my post). It might have been at "People". I've added something there a week ago (with the current romanian president, Basescu). The guy become famous for his campaign against stray dogs (this is not a joke). There's also my line about romanian conflicts in "Diplomatic Relations" which was edited and now it doesn't make any sense. I've checked the history and these 2 IP's were responsible: 81.196.54.101 and 82.76.55.81. The last one blanked Government section. I've restored them, btw. Sorry for so many edits.

i dind not find many references to one of romania`s growing industries: prosttitution adn the export of prostitution to the west. i think it would be realy funny. i`ll try to add this info if i have the time... i`ll try to make it funny

Besides vandalism, there is a lot of bad editing going on on this page (let's call it un-editing). I agree that if a paragraph or picture is not really that funny you should take it out, but in order to replace it with something better. I am rather pissed by the coat of arms thing. I only replaced it with the square chicken (that I made myself, so no copyright problems) because the one that was on the page is ugly and badly made. Does that drawing try to make a point? Because I don't see it. Enlighten me, please. I don't say mine is funnier, or anything, but I took the time to make it look nice, at least.

Second: GUYS! there is enough in this article about manele. There is something about those, in almost every section. Is'n it enough that we hear them all the time in cabs, stores and from neighbours? There are other funny things to write about..... And I agree with Puterfixer somewhat. Funny is funnier when it is somehow developed from some real element. Altough we have quite a history in dadaism.....

Edit Warrior Psychology 101

It seems that the people defacing the page on Romania behave like kids who get a new trumpet toy. They'll blow on it until they go dizzy just because they can. We can either wait until they get bored and find something else to play with (might take a while) or we can take their toy away and bring an ending to this "who writes dumber things or deletes everything" competition. Perhaps it may be a good idea to freeze the page (or make it uneditable by non-authorized users) for a while, until they forget about it or give up trying. This is the ultimate solution for those who can't understand the concept of a wiki and that the edit button is there to allow improvements, not adding garbage or destroying others' contributions.

Banning them will only encourage them to keep trying because they were noticed. I have seen that some of the banned IPs belong to RDS ISP, and that measure is pretty much useless because RDS is assigning dynamic IPs for its cable Internet customers for a few months. Someone whose IP was banned today may return tomorrow because he has another IP address.

We have already discused this (Talk:Romania#romania_doesn.27t_mean_only_bad_stuffs) and whilst it's a pain I'm still of the opinion that a lot of the edits are not vandalism, if the only edits made to page where vandalism then I would be the first to protect it but whilst actual content is getting added I think the mood of the meeting is to hold off protecting it (also their blanking useually gets reverted ASAP anyway) which is to a certain extent the nuclear option.

I also take you point re: dynamic IP's and the ineffectiveness of blocking them, it does at least provide something of a speed bump if nothing else. --Elvis 13:33, 24 Jun 2005 (UTC)

The article is indeed hilarious -- I've read it a couple of days ago and I laughed my ass off. Is there any "hidden" way (think "spoiler" -- a popup, or something) to share the insider jokes with the rest of the world? I mean, the stuff about ciunga is hilarious for a Romanian, but I don't expect the average reader to recognize it as a barbarism for chewing gum. And so on.

Hey guys, the page is awesome ! The funniest country page that I came across by far ! :) So keep up the good work ( I've tried myself to add stuff here and there, but I'm not so tallented). Now, regarding the "Coat of Arms" I also vote for the previous one (the chicken), for reasons already stated above: Maybe none of them has any meaning, but, again, the previous one was simply funnier and also better done ! Nothing against original people, but could somebody replace it ? ;-)

If you aren't romanian, probably 50-70% of the article would seem gibberish anyway (or pure nonsense at best), so I think that's not a very realistic argument. The actual coat of arms is just lowsy (at least technically speaking).

I see now ( 10:52 am RO time) that the page undergoes quite heavy modifications without so much new input. Is that really necessary ? Shouldn't this be a reason for ban as well ?! Well, just a thought...

Maybe at some point the page should remain stable having some standard format (as most of the pages dedicated to other countries do). If further inovative ideas come along, there would be plenty of ways to make links to new pages, without deleting whole sections or turn them upside down.

Speaking about readability and amount of fun, maybe it would be the time to point out that not so many folks are crazy fans of Tolkien or "Heroes of Might and Magic" PC game or whatever crap. To give an example, the "suckiest country" and "asshole of europe" seem (to me) funnier than all that endless orcs/warlords/vampires/Vlad Dracu thing (same as "manele"). A little "anchoring" in reality doesn't harm, even if some would feel it offending. Sensible patriot fellas should bear in mind that Romania might not be accepted in EU at all (not even as "the official asshole") as it seems more and more obvious now, if they really want to have something to cry about or feel offended (and yeah, that's damn real, not just a wiki page)...

Changing the page IS vandalizing

Romania was once nominated for appearance on the first page. Now?? Whoever thought that modifying the page was a good idea is terribly wrong. If any admins read this, please revert to the last page (just Romania) and remove the "What I didn't know about Romania series" link. The information should all be in one place.

Compiled the articles into Romania. Hopefully I have covered every aspect. Bring something new.

Absolutely 100% disagree:

1. Just because a page is highlighted dosn't mean that it can't improve.
2. The What I didn't know about Romania series was a mergeing of a load of stubby articles that on their own were about to be huffed.
3. Placing ALL the details from the WIDKAR series in the main article would have made it over long
4. As it is having one main article then a lot more articles going into more detail is the same style as wikipedia (and thus a better parody).

As I see in the list of articles proposed for deletion, the only articles related to Romania are those posted in the "What I didn't know about Romania" series, not the ones copied from the original "Romania" article. Go see.

Right, right... but still I have to disagree with you 60%. I support the idea of having a "tree structure" with sub-structures, links, and so on... after all I just said that (yesterday). But this is not just about improving something, it's about highlighting something that was written two hours ago in detriment of what was known as "THE ARTICLE", of what pushed the article on the main page.

In other words, who can judge if "Tourism" and "Sport" is better/funnier than - let's say - diplomatic relations or law system ?

Unfortunately it is not possible. The first, in "Catavencu", is not free online, unless it's 6 month old or so, which is not the case, yet; the second, in Business magazin, is not availible online because the magazine is not online yet (aaargh!).

Thanks man, but i went through metaphorical hell cutting the arm off the famous picture i got it off. I tried to use both arms but then the hole couldn't go in the centre really. I'll see if i can write more since if theres anything this article needs, its more crap written by me. Also, many bad photoshops.

........I don't think you get what I mean. the photoshop handicraft is not bad, although it could do with a little more work around the hole. My problem is that it looks too muck like someone is trying to pry open his own butt. I don't know if that was what you intended. And about the writing: Step 1 - get a username; Step 2 write, but please, if you do so, write correctly (sometimes a spell check is not enough;) Step 3 - if it's not funny enough, the stuff you add will be "edited mercilessly".

Bucharest needs help

Someone inserted a line on Bucharest on the Geography page. I took the liberty of erasing the not so funny stuff there, but it made me realise that's a domain not to be missed. There would be soooo much to say about it, what I put there is just a start (and not a very funny one, I'm affraid). Quite embarrassing

I am a new user and I have subscribed to Uncyclopedia because I wanted to find out more about the article on Romania. I'm a Romanian and I must say I wasn't too happy when I read it. The are some very good jokes, other very good jokes which only Romanians can laugh at (such as the banknotes with manele singers on them - that's an excellent joke but it would fit much better e.g. on a Romanian-language Uncyclopedia), and then there's many many dirty words which are very embarrassing. I loved the article so I tried to make the history section larger and I also added a couple of remarks here and there. However my English spelling is very bad so if somebody could correct it it would be really nice. Wondering about all the idiots

Every time I check out a Romania related article it's bound to be vandalized by some idiot who posts something like "this is not funny we are a country too...blah blah blah". WHAT the hell? Are other country pages sooooo vandalized as Romanian ones or are we, romanians just stupid and don't get it? Maybe somebody should make a tag with "Joke you moron!" and put it on Romanian pages.
