{{RecentUnNews}} is the list of the newest good-quality UnNews stories.

There are several lists of recent UnNews stories

• Whenever anyone creates an article in the UnNews: namespace, it automatically goes on top of the list of Trending stories on the UnNews Front Page. (If the article is really crap, the UnNews Editor-in-Chief should "mercy move" it back to the creator's userspace with an explanation.)
• If the UnNews is at all decent, the UnNews Editor-in-Chief or whichever Admin is responsible for the website main page should edit {{RecentUnNews}} to include it in the list of UnNews stories that appears on the main page.
• If the UnNews is really good, the UnNews Editor-in-Chief should edit {{Lead articles}} to prepare a graphic to appear on the UnNews Front Page.

How to add an UnNews story to this list

1. If it's your own article, don't.
2. Add your entry below the line that starts NEW LINKS BELOW THIS LINE, formatted as described below. The new entry is at the top of this list.
3. The new entry will grow the list beyond the recommended 15 entries, so delete one or more entries from the bottom so that there are again 15 entries in the list.

Format of an entry

1. Start the entry with a *, since the list of stories is a bulleted list.
2. The entry is a piped link. On the left side of the pipe is the exact name of the article, including the UnNews: namespace. On the right side of the pipe is the text you want to appear in the list. This is usually the same thing, minus UnNews:. If the article name isn't a good headline, then you can type a good headline on the right side. But also consider moving the page (and informing the author). If you copy the name of the UnNews here in a way that includes underlines, replace them with spaces.
3. The piped link is put in boldface by preceding and following it with the wikicode '''.
4. Finish up by typing another pipe, |.

Optional:

1. If the UnNews story has an UnNews Audio, include {{InlineMedia}} after the end-of-boldfacing and before the final pipe. (In the parameter, omit the prefix "File:", the prefix in the filename, which is usually "UnNews--", and the suffix ".mp3")
2. If the UnNews story has an amusing image/photograph, add (pictured) after the end-of-boldfacing and before the final pipe, delete the same legend if it appeared elsewhere in the list, and follow the next section to make the image appear on the main page.

Making an image appear on the main page

If the story has a good image, is very topical, is very good, or is even all three — or if it has just been too long since someone changed the main page photograph — edit the parameters of the

template to match the story that has the image.

• image= — This is the name of the image file. Do not type the File: namespace. Do type the file type, such as .jpg.
• left=right — This means to have the photo float right in the list. Don't change it.
• width=150 — This is the desired width of the image in pixels. If the image is extremely long, it may be necessary to change this, but don't exceed 200.
• link= — This is the exact name of the UnNews article, and do begin it with UnNews:.
• text= — This is the text that pops up if the reader hovers the pointer over the image. Generally, we use the caption of the photo in the UnNews story.
