KITAISA, Kenya -- The Duke and Duchess of Kitaisa are enjoying “private and quiet time“ so they can “get to know their son,“ a village spokesman said Wednesday.
British media have reportedly ignored that the couple and their newborn son are now on route to the village of Upper Kitaisa, where the mother’s parents live.
The downtime comes after Prince Akeem and his wife, Adila, introduced their infant to more villagers, giving the world its first glimpse of the prince as they left the herbal hut.
Queen Mozulla II went to the Hut Wednesday morning to see the newborn for the first time and uncle Adul visited, too, according to the spokesman.
Akeem, Adila and the baby left the village by foot around lunch time, headed to Adila's parents' home in Upper Kitaisa, according to Kenyan media reports.
The family's emergence Tuesday evening from the Medicine Lady's hut in Lower Kitaisa marked the end of a long wait for the western mainstream media to show up outside, but none were present.
Adila and Akeem took turns holding the child, wrapped in a course pink rag, as they waved to well wishers. “The prince has already changed his first diaper,” the couple told reporters.
“It's very emotional. It's such a special time,“ Adila said in Swahili.
The 8-pound, 6-ounce boy was born Monday afternoon. He's thirty fifth in line, behind 34 brothers and sisters, to the Kenyan throne of Kitaisa.
On their way out, the couple walked down a jungle path where members of the British media have never been, not even on Safari, not even in their wildest dreams.
