Lonely Pages error

Also the article The Great Excommunication of Everything appears on the Lonely pages secion despite it being linked to five articles. I've check the addresses on each link but I can't seem to find the problem. Anyway thank you for your time. 205.188.117.11 22:30, 15 Jul 2005 (UTC)

  • Hmm..that's odd. There seems to be two duplicate copies of the article yet neither show any links despite the search page showing at least 5 (not including the link to this page). 205.188.117.11 03:43, 24 Jul 2005 (UTC)
I've tried adding a link to The Great Excommunication of Everything from another article and it still shows as a lonely page. Excommunication links there, so this is an error. --Carlb 12:15, 27 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Template:Randomstub, <option> and <choose>

I'm seeing an odd problem with text contained within the random <option> and <choose> tags; in each individual random item, the </td> and </tr> tags are passed to the browser unmangled but any attempt to use <td> and <tr> within these items results in the < and > being arbitrarily replaced with &lt; and &gt; - the effective result being that tables (or table fragments) do not work at all within random <option> blocks. :( --Carlb 21:33, 21 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Jesus, I was about to post when your whole message disappeared. I was damn confused, but in the end pulled out the banstick and the rollback machine and all was well. What I was *about* to post, before I was so rudely interrupted, was that while I cannot help you, I would like to thank you for showing me some new code. I will attempt to bring this server to its knees by using it excessively. TY. --Famine 22:04, 21 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Random selections are not part of the standard MediaWiki code. This is an extension written by User:Algorithm, so it may be best to contact him directly with these problems. Angela 21:52, 23 Jul 2005 (UTC)
I'm not sure why <tr> tags aren't working inside the <option> tags (it's possible that the parser renders HTML before rendering extension content, but I'll have to test this hypothesis further), but you can still use the pipe syntax without any problems. --Algorithm 03:45, 28 Jul 2005 (UTC)
Just tested tables on my own wiki, and they're working fine without any changes to my code. Were the <tr> and <td> tags on their own inside the <option>s, or did you also have the <table> in there? If you didn't, then the failure of the <tr> and <td> tags is expected behavior. --Algorithm 04:17, 28 Jul 2005 (UTC)
The <option>s were inside the table, as the initial text "This is a (whatever)-related..." stub was constant and the rest of the text pseudorandom. I just tried switching this so that the <table>s are entirely contained within the <option>s, instead of the other way around. The table codes worked in that configuration, but the {{{1}}} parameter was no longer being properly replaced as soon as it was within the <option> section. I've had to revert the template. Drats. --Carlb 05:39, 28 Jul 2005 (UTC)

License statement

I thot the stuff on Uncyclopedia was under cc-by-nc-sa - the license statement at the bottom of each page in the Classic skin says it's under GFDL - David Gerard 17:43, 15 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Sorry about that. MediaWiki:Copyright was picking up GFDL from a "$1" variable somewhere. I changed it to be a hard-coded link to the correct CC license. Angela 02:44, 16 Jul 2005 (UTC)

http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Special:Recentchanges not working

When I try to access http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Special:Recentchanges, I get the error message Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_CONSTANT_ENCAPSED_STRING in /home/wikicities/wiki/includes/Title.php on line 622. I think this is the address I've always used and it's always worked. http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Special:Recentchanges still works fine. --Rcmurphy 22:47, 13 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Fixed I applied the "works for me" patch, and I have had no issues. Indeed, all the above links work for me. EBKAC perhaps? --Famine 00:35, 14 Jul 2005 (UTC)

I tried it right after you posted that message and it didn't work. I tried it again just now and it worked. I withdraw my problem report. --Rcmurphy 03:57, 14 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Preview Not Previewing

I thought I was going insane, but I previewed a post to the Village Dump, and it posted. I edited it, and made *sure* I clicked "Show Preview", and it once again posted without a preview.

Now, I'm assuming that this is due to my recent (within the last hour) installation of the Mozilla Firefox extension grease monkey. I'll try to narrow down the script which is causing this. My guess is that it's the PostInterceptor script. --Famine 16:03, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Indeed it was this script. I added uncyclopedia.wikia.com/* to the exclude list, and all is well. --Famine 16:06, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Edit Warriors

Is there a possibility to restore easily pages (my methods does not seem really efficient)? (perhaps the "admins" handle it...) There are mad romanian edit warriors everywhere thoses times... :s It's becoming unsafe...

Reverting edits? Admins can do it by going to a user's contribs page and clicking Rollback on any of their edits. I don't know if other users or IPs can do that. Best thing to do if you find reverting blankings or vandalization too difficult is to report whoever made the bad edits at Uncyclopedia:Ban Patrol. Keeping Romania up and running is kind of fun, though. Keeps me on my toes. --Rcmurphy 14:41, 19 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Any user can revert, but only admins get the rollback button. See Wikia:Help:Revert. Angela 02:46, 16 Jul 2005 (UTC)

IP Template

I hear the IP template is buggered? Someone detail on this. Thanks. --Chronarion 17:41, 4 Jun 2005 (UTC)

The original contained some hard-coded URL's, namely:
[http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/uncyclopedia/index.php?title=Special:Contributions&target={{{1}}} Edits]
[http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/uncyclopedia/index.php?title=Special:Blockip&ip={{{1}}} Block]
These were affected by the move and have been changed a couple of times to use new URLs to compensate. --Carlb 22:34, 6 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Was this related to blocking? I just tested Special:Blockip and that seems to work normally. Is this still a problem? Angela 20:19, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Appears to work. --Chronarion 23:48, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC)
I changed the urls on the 6th, havn't heard of any problems since. I am going to figure out how to use localurl: so that this doesn't happen again. --Paulgb Talk 00:03, 9 Jun 2005 (UTC)

"Save Page" previews

When I try to save a page, it previews it instead. "Show preview" previews. --69.141.191.7 22:10, 3 Jun 2005 (UTC) Test --Darkdan 22:10, 3 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Ahhhh...The IP above was me. It works now. --Darkdan 22:11, 3 Jun 2005 (UTC)

List of templates

Uncyclopedia:List of Templates no longer works. --EvilZak 21:37, 2 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Try http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/index.php?title=Special%3AAllpages&from=&namespace=10 --Carlb 22:26, 2 Jun 2005 (UTC)
There is now a manually-categorised list at Uncyclopedia:Templates as well. --Carlb 00:03, 28 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Login is fixed! Login is borked right now. We're working on it. Also, force page refresh for update right now. --68.237.117.124 18:42, 1 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I can log in at uncyclopedia.wikicities.com but not yet at uncyclopedia.wikia.com. In theory, these 2 should be identical.
Try http://uncyclopedia.wikicities.com/index.php?title=Special:Userlogin&returnto=Main_Page as that may work when plain uncyclopedia.wikicities.com does not (the latter just redirects to the main uncyclopedia.wikia.com page as of 19:22, 1 Jun 2005 (UTC)??? ) However, do watch the URL bar at the top of your browser, as anything from search to move a page to save an edit may send you from uncyclopedia.wikicities.com back to uncyclopedia.wikia.com, where you're not logged in! --Carlb 19:56, 1 Jun 2005 (UTC)--Carlb 19:23, 1 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I think we now seem to be using the wikicites user DB, reason: I created User: Elvis on wikicities when I heard about the up comming change and so I could log in but my watchlist and User Contibutions have been wipped as has my newly won sysop status, I'll report it on wikicites as well. --Elvis 12:30, 1 Jun 2005 (UTC)

This seems to be fixed now, and Special:Listadmins shows you as an admin. Angela 19:18, 1 Jun 2005 (UTC)

: Yup, my user/usertalk pages still exist but I had to re-create my userid (no such user...) and now the protect/delete tabs are history and my contribs shows as blank. Should I get busy in order to try for "n00b of the month", assuming I get a second chance at the honour as a "new" user? --Carlb 13:17, 1 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Fixed.

Admins?

: The list of admins indeed shows 22 people, but all the names look unfamiliar... que pasa? Was thinking of nominating Chron..somethingorother... on the vote-for-sysop, but with my contribs back down to zero, I'd pubably get labelled a sockpuppet. :) --Carlb 13:34, 1 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Fixed.

Flammable is a dick, he deleted my kick ass Taboogoo Refex article as well as all the connecting articles!!!!!!!!!! DIE!!!!!!!!-- Cunty McFuckshit

I'm sorry. Your message could not be completed as filled out. This is because of the inordinate amount of cruft contained in your recent articles including taboogoo Refex, Misake, and other mutant miscreants that should never have existed. Thank you for using Uncyclopedia.--Flammable CUN 23:06, 18 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Username missing

When I try to log in, it says that there is no user with that name - LSK

That shouldn't be happening, and might have been a temporary issue. Can you try again now? Angela

It works again! - LSK

URL's

There have been some minor changes to some of the URL's, moving things like http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/uncyclopedia/index.php to http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/index.php (as the /uncyclopedia/ in the old path was non-standard). This may affect a very limited number of templates (the {{IP}}, used on the ban patrol, specifically - I've updated this one, are there others???). It will affect bookmarks (update 'em, eh?) and will certainly affect pywikibot (if anyone's using it with the old URL's). New pywikibot installations should be able to use the memoryalpha_family.py as a starting point and modify to create an uncyclopedia_family.py for Uncyclopedia, perhaps? Not a bug, just something to be aware of... --Carlb 13:27, 1 Jun 2005 (UTC)

We can put in an automatic redirect from the old style URLs if you want that. Angela 19:18, 1 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Cookies?

The site which needs to be allowed for setting a cookie to log in is not http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com, is there any information available regarding the true address?

Do not adjust your browser... the login appears to be completely broken :( --66.102.74.242 17:09, 1 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Try uncyclopedia.wikicities.com for now. This should shortly be an automatic redirect to uncyclopedia.wikia.com. It's the same database, so it doesn't matter which URL you actually edit on. Angela 19:18, 1 Jun 2005 (UTC)

fixed.

Caching

Pages are not always showing the most recent version. Angela 21:10, 1 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Math

Math tags seem to be adding a new line at the end. See Toilet Paper Paradox. Its not too urgent because there isn't a lot of math here. --Paulgb Talk 01:43, 2 Jun 2005 (UTC)

  • If you do *not* leave any blank spaces between </math>and the text which follows, the math appears correctly. --Carlb 01:54, 2 Jun 2005 (UTC)
    • This might just be because we're using a more up to date version of the math extension, which is more fussy about the correct format being used, so you do need to remove extra blank lines. Angela 07:07, 2 Jun 2005 (UTC)
    • That makes sense; I have been noticing small errors like "Antarctica's population is made up of <math>\pi \times \infty\</math>[[penguin]]s." break things (remove the extra \ after \infty and it works just fine) --Carlb 17:31, 2 Jun 2005 (UTC)
      • Thanks --Paulgb Talk 14:51, 2 Jun 2005 (UTC)
        • This is actually because I used a MIMETex hack, and didn't account for the spacing, and we're now using LaTeX proper. --Chronarion 17:40, 2 Jun 2005 (UTC)
          • So stick to water-based lubricants and LaTex should serve us well? :) --Carlb 20:43, 2 Jun 2005 (UTC)
            • That, and make sure you know how to fit a LaTeX onto your installation. --Chronarion 00:22, 3 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Extra <newline> after math

One point at which the problem remains visible is that where the math formula is not intended to appear at the end of the line, for instance:

  • Rotating Thursday by produces the result Christmas Day + i * Wedding Anniversary... in article Thursday. --Carlb 02:04, 10 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Uploads

When I try to upload an image, I get this:

Articles

i have problem with some of the articles, like Thailand. they seem not to be in accordance with the writing guidelines outlined in Uncyclopedia:How To Be Funny And Not Just Stupid. i mean, not that i expect a non-content non-informative article to be funny at all or funny in a college humor sense of way or funny in a sad way like any article on [URL http://www.spiegel.de] or [URL http://www.cnn.com]. actually, since the last woman i've been with dumped me for good i do not expect anything anymore.

To make myself clear i put my expectations on some of the articles in the words of the famous dialog between Goldfinger and James Bond:

JB: Do you expect me to talk?

GF: No mister Bond, I expect you to die!

(anyone unfamiliar with classics from 1964 might have a better understanding of this if i quote a 1996 simpson classic: Bont- Do you expect me to talk Scorpio? Hank- No Mr. Bont, I expect you to die, and make it a very cheap funeral. Bye, you're gonna die now!) --alfons, (17.6.2005 10:52 gmt+01, today's my birthday)

Your hit list is here or here Mr. Bond, and no, Thailand is not even close to being the worst offender in these parts... look around! --Carlb 00:32, 19 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Template keyword problem

There is a bug when you type "Template: not", "Template: and", or "Template: or" into the Search bar, it goes to a page like this one. All the letters in "not" "and" or "or" must be lowercase. However, the capitalization for "Template" does matter. "tEMpLaTe: or" will produce the bug. Also, the spacing between the colon(:) and the next word is not important. "Template:and" and "Template: and" will both produce the bug. In addition, you can put any number of other words after the word "Template:" to produce the bug as long as "not" "and" or "or" in the there. "Template: you or me" will produce the bug. However there must be a space between the words, duh. "Template: notme" will NOT produce the bug. Strangely "Template: xor" does not produce the bug. -Hyad 03:55, 7 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Looks like a problem with MediaWiki and reserved words in MySQL, try reporting the bug here: MediaWiki's Bugzilla --Elvis 09:27, 7 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Constant Vandalising

User:Motor is constantly editing out Oscar Wilde as US President, as well as vandalising other articles that mention him as President. This is getting incredibly annoying to fix. Rangeley 17:36, 10 Jul 2005 (UTC)
194.176.172.54 has been vandalising all over the place, especially Romania --Stolee 18:43, 11 Jul 2005 (UTC)

make sure to report these here Uncyclopedia:Ban Patrol so the admins can pick up on it.--Elvis 10:27, 12 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Blanking of History vof something

I'm sorry to bother the Administrators but I thought you might want to know the History of Something was blanked on the 15th by Gyugy (who has blanked a number of other articles). I recently reverted it but you might want to keep an eye on that article.

History vof something was caused by a page move vandal trying to move current events there. I've cleaned this up now, along with all the other pages moved by Gyugy. Angela 02:39, 16 Jul 2005 (UTC)

The entry for " Visual Basic" is serious and should therefore be removed

Main Page Question

I was surprised to see the "new" main page and layout and it's really annoying. I was wondering if this is merely a joke or a result of site vandalism, because I cannot read articles very clearly now with the big "OMFGLOL" sign... Thank you.

It's a joke (the 31st was national blog day) given it's been up for over 24 hours and it's now the 1st I've changed it back, I'm on the case for the logo --Sir Elvis KUN FIC Bur. | Petition 17:02, 1 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Factual content

The article Sayeret matkal seems to be fairly acurate. I assume it should be rewritten however should this be listed on Uncyclopedia:Pages for deletion ? 209.213.71.78 21:48, 8 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Or the contents could be copied to TFAODP, and then the page could probably be listed on VFD. --Rcmurphy KUN 22:06, 8 Aug 2005 (UTC)

The above-mentioned article wasn't all bad; it just needed some editing. It should be OK by now.

There doesn't seem to be any significant changes. The page history [1] shows only one edit. 64.12.116.204 02:18, 13 Aug 2005 (UTC)

hello. Im complaining about the word 'jesus'. it actually should be spelt in its hebrew name

'Cheeseus'

and is not a son of god but is the god of cheese.

He actually died on a cocktail stick with two naughty pinapples either side of him, and was grated mercilessly by a gang of babybell soldiers on the orders of a sweaty full fat edam. He was brought back to the buffet of life buy a spotty man from outer space and became the god of cheese which we all know is 'red leister'.

The spotty man also had a superted bear who prayed to cheeseus (god of cheese) to give heart disease and wind there mortel enemies Texas Pete and his evil camp side kick 'skeleton'.

Advertising?

The article Soldat seems to be advertising (as discussed on the talk page) and, while I've cleaned it up a bit, I'm unsure if this is redeemable or not. 209.213.71.78 21:52, 4 Aug 2005 (UTC)
