Assassination Classroom (暗殺教室|Ansatsu Kyōshitsu) is a Japanese anime written and illustrated by Japanese author Yūsei Matsui. Originally, Yūsei had envisioned the series as a Hentai, but with an actual plot. However, considering that most of the characters in the series are middle school children, the threat of numerous lawsuits soon arose, forcing the producers to abandon the show's more risque roots in favor of a more "normal" type of anime.

Soon after the anime's release, it gained widespread popularity, largely due to the fact that most anime fans are hopeless weebs that will watch just about any weird shit with tentacles in it.

Yeah, you can really tell where they were going with this.

Plot[edit]

A strange new teacher is introduced to Class 3-E at Kunugigaoka Middle School. The teacher is a round-headed, tentacled octopoid creature capable of moving at speeds of up to Mach 20 and whose color changes depending on his mood. Prior to introducing himself to his new class, he managed to carve out a large chunk of the moon to become a permanent crescent moon. In a year, he plots to destroy the earth but decides to teach a junior high school class in the meantime for an unknown reason. With this strange creature having effectively taken over the world, the government reluctantly complies with his request on the condition that he does not harm his students.

Affectionately, the students of Class E call him Korosensei, which is a pun on the Japanese term 殺せない or 'korosenai' which, in English, roughly translates to 'one with lustful appendages. These same students greet him every day with assassination attempts in their journey to save the world by eventually murdering their own teacher, and to earn 10 billion yen from the government.

Characters[edit]

Main Characters[edit]

Korosensei[edit]

Class 3-E's giant yellow octopus-looking teacher who supposedly destroyed 70 percent of the moon. In addition to having silly amounts of godlike power, Korosensei can also propel his tentacles at maximum speeds reaching Mach 20. Despite the fact that he(?) plans to blow up the earth in March of next year, he still has time to taunt middle school children and the government alike, much like normal teachers. In many ways, Korosensei was designed to bring back memories of just how painful middle school actually way.

Nagisa Shiota[edit]

The smallest boy in Class 3-E who possesses an androgynous appearance typical of Japanese anime. Nagisa has light blue hair pulled up into pigtails and ranked 5th best in marksmanship on the boys' side. He's the main perspective character and keeps track of his homeroom teacher's weaknesses in a small notebook. Despite his lack of notable physical capabilities, Nagisa somehow possesses a natural talent for assassination.

Edgelord? Edgelord.

Karma Akabane[edit]

A close friend of Nagisa and the show's premier edgelord. Karma is an intelligent boy and the top student of Class 3-E as well as one of the top students overall in Kunugigaoka. Unlike the majority of Class E, who were put in there for low grades, Karma was put in there for violence. He's ranked third for marksmanship on the boys' side and out of all his classmates, he's naturally the most enthusiastic about killing his teacher.

Kayano Kaede[edit]

Another close friend of Nagisa and the smallest female in Class E. She's a cheerful and friendly girl with a love for sweets and poses unique cat ears-style pigtails. As a character with a generic character design, she is typically referring to in Japanese as 基本的な雌犬, or " basic bitch". Possessing very little in the way of actual talet or character design, Kayano normally acts as a logistical support and stays within the background.

Remember, it's a show about Middle School.

Tadaomi Karasuma[edit]

An agent from the Japan's Ministry of Defense and Class 3-E's P.E. teacher. Karasuma is a stern yet kind man who was sent to Class 3-E to monitor Korosensei. He is the show's generic "badass" character who flaunts super-human abilities and a super-human lack of emotion. Like Korosensei, he cares very little for the students in Class E.

Irina Jelavić[edit]

A honey trap infiltration assassin and Class 3-E's English teacher. Originally an antagonist who thought little of the students in Class E, Irina now cares for them as if they were her little brothers and sisters. She has a crush on Karasuma and is affectionately referred to as "Professor Bitch" by her students. Her main abilities lie in her communication and seduction abilities which have allowed her a track record of eleven kills. Wait, 'how' is she allowed to be a teacher again?

Reception[edit]

Assassination Classroom had received high praise by weebs for the show's inclusion of tentacles and it's completely unbelievable plot. However, it has been roundly criticized by the same fans for it's complete lack juicy hentai scenes.
