Quoting the author of this text: "In the 1990s, Cohen was so distraught by being so Jewy, that he became a Buddhist, and went to study Zen Buddhism ..."

It would be alright to put forth such a statement if you made it clear that it is a private personal assumption. But you state is as fact and that is offensive. I don't care if you dislike Jews and Judaism, you're entitled to have your likes and dislikes as are we all. If there is any truth to the statement I quote above, you should link to where Cohen has made any statements, claims or suggestions that he thinks he is "too Jewish" and if so, that he doesn't like it and therefore have taken steps to make himself appear less Jewish. I wish you good luck on that since Cohen has made plenty of statements - also in his poetry and song lyrics - that shows he's completely comfortable with being a born Jew.

Studying Buddhism is also not a sign of seeking to distance yourself from Judaism, in fact the study of other religions is encouraged by many in the global Jewish community (though obviously there will always be people and Rabbis who don't support any practice other than what is strictly within the established Jewish tradition of religious practice).

In making unfounded presumptions you are helping people who are critical toward racists and religious bias distancing themselves even further by showing that your prejudice is based on emotional bias and not logical reasoning. But then, maybe that's how it has to be since there is really no logical reason for disliking individuals merely because of their race or religious origin.

Great reasoning! However, you might have noticed that there is a hollow potato instead of a globe in the upper left corner of the page. This means that this is a humour website, a parody of an encyclopedia to be more exact. But anyway thank you for your comment and you might want to create an account here to talk to us one day. Further to that: The comedy strategy that "Jewiness" is inherently ridiculous is what we call meme-cruft and fight against, Jew and Gentile together. The comedy "strategy" of making sport of Cohen by seizing on his Jewishness is superficial and we strive for funnier stuff — with your help, if we could have it. This, like most articles here, does not have a single "author," but the totally offensive section "Yucky Jewiness" seems to have come from its creator, a Mr. ThomasPynchonsLeftNut; likewise the section about Cohen's foreskin; about which, the same comment.
We do not shy away from ridicule of religions and races, but I continue to hope it is done cleverly and delicately. Again, we would benefit from Anon's help. Spıke Ѧ 15:38 25-Oct-13
