Since when was "has only one article" a valid criterion for category QVFD? I thought we went by the "funny or not" rule, but maybe we are legalistic goons. I've always found categories are funny cause they're at the bottom of the page, who the bum cares if other articles are in a category. And how can one add more pages to a category if it's deleted? And instead of listing something for QVFD, couldn't we just put a [[Category:Whatever]] at the bottom of a different page?

Anyhow, I'm tired of doing QVFD cause people put a lot of stuff there that doesn't really need to be deleted. Same for VFD. And it's my birthday this weekend. So peace out. --Katievanity.jpg 21:19, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

You're referring to me. Those categories I put are stupid, idiotic, pointless wastes-of-space. There are hundreds of categories. Many of which have and only will have one article in them. They make it hard for those who are looking for a category their article can fit in. The ones I put up for QVFD are stupid. --Dexter111344 22:42, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

Well I'd say don't, Dexter. Putting even slightly controversial things on QVFD invites admins to get fed up of trawling through it, as Katie has said. We use categories as funny little extras sometimes; get used to it. Also, deleting categories with articles in them puts them on the Wanted Categories list, which I'm vaguely trying to do something about when I have a spare moment, so more work for me too. --Strange.PNG (but) Untrue  Whhhy?Whut? How? *Back from the dead* 23:03, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
Fine. I only put three up anyway. One was vanity and got deleted. The other two are stupid, though... Maybe I'll go through that there Wanted Categories thing and make a few of them. --Dexter111344 23:08, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
Ah, three's not so bad - sorry if I was a little harsh! --Strange.PNG (but) Untrue  Whhhy?Whut? How? *Back from the dead* 23:14, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

Deletionism not gone too far enough

While we're talking about QVFD, a quick nag that it's rather backed up with unchecked entries - the marker thingumy's about five days back now, and there's some real rubbish piling up behind it... Then there's ICU, which now seems to be waiting 16 days to delete things instead of 7... --Strange.PNG (but) Untrue  Whhhy?Whut? How? *Back from the dead* 23:14, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

While I'm an abashed deletionist of articles that don't look like they have a chance, some people take that to be a trigger happy deletionist for articles with a good idea which need expansion. Frankly, what I'd like to see is more collaborations. We'd have better content if we wrote our articles together. --Crazyswordsman...With SAVINGS!!!! (T/C) 23:53, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

I've been away for a bit, I'll look at that when I'm bored next. Also, to Katie's question of "And how can one add more pages to a category if it's deleted?", you can add categories even if the page for that category doesn't exist... they all still appear at the bottom of the non-existent page. Like with This category does not exist Spang talk 07:13, 23 Jun 2007

...But then they appear on Wanted Categories, and I make angry noises. --Strange.PNG (but) Untrue  Whhhy?Whut? How? *Back from the dead* 21:50, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
The point I meant was that how can people find the category and know it exists and thus add other pages to it if we delete said category and remove links to it. --Katievanity.jpg 03:46, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
Or you can redirect them to a different category, while still showing the imaginary category at the bottom of the page. Sir Roger 19:28, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
And that works? :-o --Strange.PNG (but) Untrue  Whhhy?Whut? How? *Back from the dead* 21:50, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
