Regarding the "common codecs" links[edit]

I have a few questions/comments.

  1. What codec is "Blink Video" meant to be?
  2. How should I fix the reference to "Shorten"? (I split it up because I wasn't sure whether a link to the actual codec had enough humor value.)
  3. (Not really a question) IIRC, the last three letters of "Huffyuv" aren't necessarily capitalized according to Wikipedia.
  4. Is everyone okay with my handling of Vorbis/Theora?

  1. Bink Video. The developers focus on aspects of the codec other than encoding speed, and the encoder is incredibly slow. The joke is meant to be that it encodes "in the blink of an eye", although that reference is probably just too subtle.
  2. There's no point cramming the name full of links; it should be enough that it's linking to something. Link to one article, preferably Midget. eg. STD is linked to an article of the same name, so Digital Theatre Systems isn't even mentioned.
  3. I've always spelt it "HuffYUV", and I've seen it spelt like that many times, like here, probably because the acronym YUV used alone is usually capitalised.
  4. It's fine. If someone doesn't like it, they'll change it.

Dialog box[edit]

The dialog box should be modified to have either a grayed-out "Yes" button (in addition to the existing "No") or two "No" buttons. Any comments? Pentium5dot1 03:26, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

Good idea! Hmmm... I think two "No" buttons would probably be funnier than a greyed-out "Yes" button (mainly because you aren't likely to ever actually see two "No" buttons like that). I may play around with it a bit, and upload a new version. -- Wicked cScott (talklog) KUN PIE NS FP 04:42, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
Sorry, I should have expressed my willingness to do this myself. Pentium5dot1 05:17, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
That's cool. -- Wicked cScott (talklog) KUN PIE NS FP 05:35, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
Oops, I should have made clearer that I'm a bit busy w/ schoolwork and am still debating the best method by which to make this modification. If I don't come up with something in 2-3 days, you might want to get to work. Thank you. Pentium5dot1 01:51, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
How about removing the "No", Minimize, Maximize and Close buttons, and putting an unavailable Help question mark button where the Close button should be? -- Mitch Icons-flag-au.png
What do you mean by removing the "No"? I agree w/ removing Minimize and Maximize, but I feel that the buttons should be "No," "No," and a disabled "Help." Pentium5dot1 22:37, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
By removing the "No" button and any other buttons, there is absolutely no control over the dialog box. That's only a suggestion, but since you're the one actually planning on doing something feel free to do what you think is best. -- Mitch Icons-flag-au.png 01:08, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
Okay, I'm probably going back to the original idea of simply "No" and "No." Pentium5dot1 08:36, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
Done. Pentium5dot1 18:33, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
