Best Rewrite

Judging guidelines: submissions will be judged on how well they improve the content being rewritten, so the value of a submission is based on the changes the writer makes, not the final product.

Best Illustrated Article

Judging guidelines: submissions will primarily be judged on the quality of the images and the value they add to the article. Though the style of writing is not the main focus, it must not be neglected. The use of an image as an adjunct (definition) to the article rather than an addition will improve an article's chances of winning.
With rewrites it is not enough to simply add images and a few uninspired lines to an already-existing article. The writer must have added most of the value.

Best Article

Topic guidelines: your article must be on a subject that either does not have an article on Uncyclopedia yet, or has a really mediocre one that shouldn't be there in the first place.

Content guidelines: there are no content guidelines, except: you must Be Funny. For examples of Being Funny, see Best Of.

Submissions

Best Rewrite

Topic guidelines: your article must be derived from and improve existing content on Uncyclopedia. Good places to look for topics are Category:Rewrite tagged, Category:Worthless Articles and Category:Pending merges but you may also choose articles that are not currently tagged as in need of help.

Content guidelines: submissions will be judged on how well they improve the content being rewritten so the content of your submission is based on the changes you make, not the final product. As with the other categories, you must Be Funny.

Additional Submission Guidelines: you must note the source articles that you have rewritten/derived from.

Submissions

Best Illustrated Article

Topic guidelines: your article must meet the same conditions set for the "Best Article" or "Best Rewrite" category. It must also include a minimum of 2 original* and relevant images.

* images that you created for the purpose of the article.

Content guidelines: submissions will primarily be judged on the quality of the images and the value they add to the article. Though the style of writing is not the main focus, it must not be neglected. The use of an image as an adjunct (definition) to the article rather than an addition will improve your chances of winning.
If you are doing a rewrite and basing it on the already existing text, it is not enough to simply add images and a few uninspired lines. You must have added most of the value.

Additional Submission Guidelines: if your article is a rewrite, add a link to the original one.

Competition Wrap Up

Our 5 (4, really) winners all get the grand prize of a sharp template on their userpage and $20 US Dollars Monopoly Money. In order to claim this prize message our good friend and benefactor Sannse for the details. Congratulations to these people, and to their almost-there compatriots the runners-up; you'll get 'em next time, guys. And really, congratulations to everyone who entered.

Thank you to all the competitors, thank you to all the judges, thanks to Wikia for ponying up and providing us cash money to play around with, and thanks most of all the Uncyclopedia public who make this all possible with their wit and their humor and their trendy apathy. It's been a pleasure being your PLS Organizer, and here's to next time and the next unlucky sap who gets pegged for the job. Sir ENeGMA (talk) GUN WotM PLS 01:18, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

Judges, Categories, & All Entries

Best Main Namespace Article

This category is the for the best overall article in the main namespace (as in, it is not an UnNews, HowTo, etc.). Alternate namespace articles should be posted in the Best Alternate Namespace Category.

Entries

Best Article by a N00b

Best Article written by someone whose first edit occurred less than 3 months ago per the start of the competition, June 25th.

Entries

Best Illustrated Article

Entries will primarily be judged on how the pictures add to the humor of the page. All pictures must be original to the author in some way, either 'chopped to some degree, done entirely by the author, or be otherwise edited in some meaningful way. Basically, don't steal other people's images. You've been warned.

  • User:Thekillerfroggy/Flute Hero It's not done yet, pretty far from it, but I'm putting it up now so I won't have to see only Uncyclopedian's entered in this cagtegory, which makes me sad :( --Littleboyonly.jpg TKFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK Oldmanonly.jpg 18:15, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

Best Alternate Namespace Article

This category includes all of the alternate namespaces such as UnNews, UnBooks, UnPoetia, HowTo, Why?, UnTunes, UnScripts and any others I am stupidly forgetting. Alternate namespace articles ARE allowed in other categories except Best Main Namespace. So for example a Noob COULD write an UnNews story and submit it Best Noob if he or she were so inclined, or he could submit it here. Alternate namespace Illustrated Articles are perfectly fine, as well as rewrites, just no separate namespaces in Best Main.

Entries

Best Rewrite

All users may enter this category (except for judges). Entries must be based on an article that is already on Uncyclopedia and will remain so through the PLS competition (so entrants are encouraged to choose the articles they rewrite wisely). Entries will be judged on both final quality and improvement over original article's quality.

Entries
  • User:Gubby/Bureaucracy--Gubby 09:52, 25 June 2007 (UTC) (As I'm conserving nothing from the previous article on Beaurocracy, it could be just a plain article and not a rewrite. Your call, judges.)
