Every time you think, you weaken the nation —Moe Howard UnNews Sunday, May 19, 2024, 03:34:59 (UTC)

This is a "masthead." UnNews Logo Potato.png

The Facebook button on the UnNews Front Page used to be a simple link to our Facebook article, meh. It now jumps to our new Facebook page. The button used to be on the line with Recent headlines but I moved it to the thing that every other Trusted News Source refers to as a masthead — name of the publication, current date, Facebook link, and so on; example above.

In so doing, I redefined a lot of stuff. The element class mp_header is now masthead, and mp_header_left is now masthead_left. If you had code on your computer to change the display of the masthead (I did), it is now broken and you will have to change the names to match; sorry.

The {{UnNews masthead}} can be called by any Second Front Pages, such as our recent one on the UnNews:2015 British general election.

Today I have an experiment where the {{News}} at the start of every UnNews article invokes the same masthead, with the title of the article. Ideally, this would replace the usual Uncyclopedia page title header, but I didn't do that yet. Your comments are welcome. Spıke Ѧ 23:02 21-May-15

In version 2, I adapt (crop and bleach) a contribution of ScottPat (see our discussion on his talk page) as a background for the masthead. It is not perfect, though, and he is away for a week, so others can still contribute or express opinions. Moved the CSS code for this so that it applies to any page with a masthead (such as this one), not just to named pages such as the Front Page and not just when the reader turns JavaScript on. Version 3 has coding that removes the Uncyclopedia page header on every UnNews article (unless you are editing it, looking at the page history, or so on). The masthead gets the job done. This is the case whether or not you have JavaScript turned on. (But if you don't have images turned on, you won't see the image.) If you are editing an UnNews and click Preview, you will see both an Uncyclopedia page header and a masthead.

JavaScript now removes the Discussion, View source, and other buttons from the UnNews Front Page only. Separately, there was an unterminated DIV in the Front Page that rendered a nearly invisible frame around it; that's gone and we have a little more room. I would like to know who is giving us about 20 pixels of dead space between the sides of the Front Page and the sides of the screen; we could do with about half of that. Spıke Ѧ 17:54 26-May-15
